One thing I look forward to every week is getting my sisters letters and emails. I love her so much and miss her like crazy! She has had the best attitude about her mission and has such a sense of humor about everything that goes on in the MTC. She has been in there for 9 weeks already and will leave for Albania July 3rd. I'll be honest, just about every week I cry a little reading her letters because I feel so proud of her! It's probably a combination of my emotional nature and pregnancy hormones. Here are a couple of paragraphs from her letter this week.
So i just barely started consecration week! its kind of insane. we started when we left the temple. so this is how it works. and practically no one does this in the mtc except for hungarians and albanians. but we dont speak english for an entire week. and part of it is that you have to give something up as well for the sacrifice. so all five of us have decided to give up our english scriptures. for the last week we havent been able to use them in lessons. but i still use them all day regardless! mostly i have this completly illogical fear of my albanian scriptures so it will be so good for me!! super scary and could be an interesting week but hopefully i can kind of understand what is going on in those things. we have also all given up another thing that is personal for us. a few of them are giving up sweets haha. from the outside you always wonder why people eat so much in here and love candy so much. but let me tell you, you learn very quickly that candy and whatever snacks you have stashed back in your room get you through the day sometimes.
The hungarians are now gone... it is so lonely! there are only three of us in our room. and we have sister watts who is a solo so we are her companions basically. especially since she is 12 elders that have yet to settle in on their now sixth week. so we take her around with us. but this week will be interesting and kind of lonely for her since she is with us a lot of the day and we cant speak english to her..
The hungarians though! ah i miss them. sister hardy and sister fox. they are both sooo great. i love them so much and it was hard to see them go. but it is good because i feel like our time is coming to an end and i will be able to focus and prepare to leave soon. sister hardy is hilarious. we are twins. same size. but she is so funny! she packed soo bad. just chucked everything in her bags. so naturally my ocd came out and i had to repack her bags for her, you know how much i love packing. it was so fun and i helped her fit a bunch of stuff that she was going to leave behind because she "couldnt fit" them in. it was a proud moment. i felt like i was taking care of lindsay again. it was super nice. but then i think i was so hyped up from packing and loving it so much that i couldnt fall asleep for like an hour! which was like 1145.. but still! thats late in this place.. but they will be awesome over in hungary and im so excited for them. i have no idea why but so many girls and companionships in here insist on being twinners for a day, like wearing all the same colors. we were all laughing about it last week and we decided that we should wear all black before the hungarians leave, in mourning of course. it was soo funny, we didnt think it would be that noticable or a big deal really. but sooo many people were asking us about it all day. you have to do what you can for entertainment in here.
