I can't believe Scarlett is 6 months old! 6 months has always seemed like a significant month to me regarding changes and milestones. I can honestly say I am soaking in every second I possibly can. I really love the stage she is in. I love that she isn't so fragile and is figuring life out so we can take her places and do things with her. I love watching her learn about and enjoy her surroundings. Scarlett is a very happy girl. Jake and I are obsessed with her! And that is an understatement. I feel like I am exploding with love for my little family and I don't know what to do with it!
- Scarlett started rice cereal awhile ago but is officially on solids now. So far she does not like: beans and squash. She loves carrots! I thoroughly enjoy feeding her because she gets so excited and I can never get the spoon to her mouth quick enough.
- Scarlett can now roll over from back to tummy
- Scarlett can stand if she is leaning on something
- She likes to take steps while I hold her hands.
- Most of the time she can sit up all by herself
- She is done with her baby bath and uses the big tub now. She was getting too cramped in the baby bath and kept trying to sit up while she was in there. She loves having space to kick and splash in the big tub!
- Scarlett smiles and chats every time she sees herself in the mirror. It is always a good way to cheer her up if she is in a bad mood!
- Scarlett loves to grab her toes
- She likes it when we pretend to eat her hands.
- She loves Jake! She is always so happy to see him and doesn't even mind when he teases her. Nothing melts my heart more than watching these two together.
- Scarlett is into grabbing faces and pulling hair these days
- Her hair is going blonde
- She gave me a wonderful Mothers Day gift and laughed her first laugh! It was the best thing in the world and melted my heart. There is nothing like a baby s laugh. I know this is a weird word to describe it but it is so pure and sincere. It is funny what it does to you to. It only takes one time and then you find yourself desperately searching for ways to get a little more and a little more. Maybe if I make this noise or dance like that I can get a laugh. I say this because I broke out into an idiotic dance the other day by my front door in hopes that Scarlett would laugh at me. Instead I made a fool out of myself and I am certain at least one of my neighbors must have seen me. That sweet sound is so addicting. Her laugh wasn't a long one last Sunday. The best part came Tuesday. I have been wanting to take Mack to the dog park for awhile. He is the perfect "dog park" dog. He dives in the water and swims, chases the ball, fetches sticks, and participates in all the doggie play. I figured since my Mom was coming over to help with Scarlett it would be the perfect day to take him. My Mom put Scarlett in a front pack while I handled Mack. What I did not expect was the non-stop giggles from Scarlett. She LOVES Mack. She laughed so hard at him and it was such a happy moment for me. I won't lie, I am a little jealous of my four-legged furry friend. I got jipped (sp?) with a little laugh but Mack got the real deal. That lucky guy. She just thought everything he did was so funny. When he jumped, chased the ball, interacted with other dogs, etc. Her favorite thing was when Mack would get out of the water and shake off. It was so heart-felt and contagious. Even though I am jealous of my Magoo I am glad that Scarlett gets such a kick out of him. That is what I have always hoped for when I pictured my kids growing up with our crazy pup. Pure joy right there. She gets so excited when he comes over and drenches her in slobber. I guess she doesn't know how gross it is yet. Oh well, I guess I will let her enjoy it and break the news to her later.
- She can finally touch the ground enough to bounce in her activity saucer. It has become a whole new toy to her now!
- She loves to hug her blankets and stuffed animals
- She is finally tolerating tummy time for more than 1 or 2 minutes.
We love our Little "S" so much! Happy half birthday baby girl!
