As I am writing this post I am realizing Scarlett has changed more this last month than she has in the previous months. I can't even begin to say how much I love this little girl. I have always heard it said that when you have a baby your capacity to love grows beyond what you ever think possible. I can confirm that is true for both Jake and I. We love her more and more every day and I can't even begin to put it into words. Here are the updates from this last month
- Scarlett loves screens. Computer, phone, t.v. etc. She will practically bend in half trying to look at them.
- She thinks she can't breath when air blows in her face. She holds her breath and squeals. It is pretty funny to watch. This includes even a slight breeze outside.
- When she gets excited she pants like a dog and bicycles her legs.
- When Scarlett is mad she scrunches her nose and breaths really fast.
- Dressing Scarlett has turned into a wrestling match. She loves to move! She kicks her legs, waves her arms, scoots, and arches her back.
- Scarlett has started trying to sit up on her own. If she is laying back she tries to pull herself up to a sitting position.
- Scarlett is finally sleeping in her crib! This is a huge milestone for us. She has had reflux since she was about 3 weeks old and we have never been able to lay her flat because of it. She has been sleeping in her swing in our room all this time. I have really wanted to switch her but wasn't sure if her reflux had improved enough yet. Jake and I haven't been sleeping well with her in our room so we decided we needed to make the switch and see how she did. She actually did so well that she hit another milestone...
- Scarlett finally started sleeping through the night! I wondered if this would ever happen. Up until we switched her in her crib she was still sleeping in 3-4 hour increments. Yikes! I thought it would be worse when we transitioned her into her crib because she has always slept propped up. We were very surprised when she was all of a sudden sleeping 8 hours straight. We have been dreading the transition for a long time. But I think honestly she was getting too cramped in her swing. Once she had some space she slept great. She is so happy these days because she is sleeping so good. Hallelujah for all of us!
- Being the stubborn girl she is, Scarlett is determined to hold her bottle by herself. She pushes my hands out of the way when I am holding it for her. I finally decided to just let her hold it. She isn't great at it yet but she will learn. She pulls it out and pushes from side to side and then gets frustrated that she can't get it in right. She also ends up with milk all over the place. However, she is getting better and better at it.
- Scarlett knows how to pull her binky out but can't quite figure out how to get it back in yet. She usually pulls it out, moves it around for a minute and then cries. Another one of those things she will have to learn through trial and error as she becomes more coordinated
- She has hit the "everything goes in the mouth" stage. Whatever she can get hold of she will put in her mouth (no matter what size it is. )
- She is starting to grab her toes
- Scarlett has really chunked up the last few weeks. She has always been so behind on weight but she might be catching up a little. I will be interested to get her 6 month stats. I am sure she will still be in the 0% for height but hey she might have moved past the 6th% for weight!
